Coco for the win.
Coco for the win.
The Shins are one of the most influential bands I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. Their album Chutes Too Narrow is uniquely fun to listen to. Songs like “Turn a Square” and “So Says I” will make even the most cynical listener nod their head in approval.
DJ Danger Mouse, the man responsible for the “how the hell does that work” Grey Album, possesses the sort of musical creativity that floods your speakers with joy.
Now, both Danger Mouse and The Shins’ James Mercer have joined together as Broken Bells to release their first album, Broken Bells.
As expected, the album’s underlying beats are more significant, providing an interesting foundation for the style of music associated with The Shins. However, its combination of innovative beats and folk-style vocals bring a lot to the table, making this album a pleasant listening experience.
Although this album doesn’t live up to either artists’ past projects, it still manages provide an entirely new style of music while still maintaining a comfortable classic feel. Check it out here.

that fresh feeling :: the eels
It’s not safe, but yeah, I can flip a piano over. You take it on this side where there’s not really as much weight.

He’d spent years cultivating a perfectly messy study. So to find that someone had stuffed a red volume on the umber-only bookshelves? Well, the proverbial shit hit the fan.
